Conveyancing

Conveyancing

Conveyancing

We act on the acquisition, disposal and leasing of property. The work runs the full transaction — official searches and title investigation, drafting and negotiating the agreement, obtaining whatever consents the land requires, stamp duty assessment, and lodging for registration.

Property transactions in Kenya carry particular risk around title — a search that isn’t properly investigated, or a consent that isn’t obtained before completion, can undo a transaction months later. We run the full process methodically, from the first search to registration, so nothing is left to be discovered after money has changed hands.

Commercial and residential property transactions, from official search through to registration.

What We Do

Our work in conveyancing typically covers:

  • Sale agreements and transfers — Drafting and negotiating agreements for sale, and managing the transfer to registration.
  • Title investigation and official searches — Verifying the title is clean before you commit to a transaction.
  • Commercial leases and licences to occupy — Negotiating lease terms that protect landlord or tenant, as appropriate.
  • Land Control Board and other statutory consents — Obtaining the consents agricultural and other land transactions require.
  • Stamp duty assessment and payment — Calculating and paying the correct stamp duty for your transaction.
  • Charges, further charges and discharges — Registering and releasing security over land.
  • Subdivision, amalgamation and change of user — Managing the statutory process to subdivide, combine or change the use of land.
  • Landlord and tenant documentation — Ongoing lease documentation, renewals and variations.

Our Approach

  • 1. Initial consultation — We discuss your matter, understand what you need, and tell you plainly where you stand.
  • 2. Scope and fee agreement — We agree the scope of work and the fee basis in writing before work begins.
  • 3. The work — We handle the matter directly, keeping you informed at each material step.
  • 4. Completion and follow-up — We confirm the matter is complete and remain available for anything that follows from it.

Who We Act For

We act on both sides of the table, and for lenders taking property as security:

  • Property developers structuring a project
  • Commercial landlords and tenants
  • Lenders taking property as security
  • Individual buyers and sellers
